Azizzi Romeo carries Jamaican roots reggae into the present with a live dub set at ALICE. He is joined by Morten McCoy and Steve Borth II from the Copenhagen-based Guiding Star Orchestra. The performance coincides with the release of his debut album, Signs Of The Time, which blends the classic 1970s roots sound with modern production and a message of peace, togetherness and hope. The album also includes one of Max Romeo's last recorded vocal performances.
Slalum, the Danish rapper also known as Laura Dalum-Hansen, opens the night. She is usually associated with high-energy jungle and hip-hop, but this time she presents a dub remix set with Anton Goltermann. Breaks and beats are shaped live on beat machines, with all remixes created on the spot. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the opening set.
Doors and the show start at 21:00 on Saturday 10 October.
