Booty Therapy is a dance class of about 1h30 focused on movement through the pelvis, including twerk. It draws on dances of the African diaspora and aims to release the emotions of the day, reconnect with the body and build a sense of collective strength.
The class is held in a women-and-gender-diverse format (FINTA), open to women and intersex, non-binary, trans, agender and other people. All levels and body types are welcome, movements can be adapted, and no dance experience is needed.
The Booty Therapy concept was created by Maïmouna Coulibaly. In Montpellier, the classes are run by Esther, an instructor since 2019 who also facilitates dance-therapy workshops and works as a Somatic Experiencing therapist.
