In November, German families traditionally prepare lanterns for the St. Martin's parade, using colored cardboard, tracing paper, stickers, wooden sticks and a candle. Empty camembert boxes are a popular material for these lanterns.
During this afternoon, children will craft their own lantern and practise the German songs sung at this festival. A snack is provided, and each child goes home with a one-of-a-kind lantern.
The workshop is for children aged 4 to 7 and is run by ecological volunteers who offer a playful introduction to the German language. Registration is required through a form that is still to be published.
The cost is 6 EUR, snack included. A lantern parade is planned for Tuesday 10 November at 18:00 at Parc de la Rauze, organised by the parents' association of the Dickens school, Les P'tits Trinquats.
