Le bonheur de chacun is a theatre production by Théâtre du Portage, a company in residence at Salle Fred-Barry, based on Boris Vian's novel L'écume des jours (Foam of the Days). It moves Vian's dreamlike world into present-day Quebec.
The story follows Colin, a comfortably off worker who falls madly in love with Chloé. Their romance is derailed by her illness: a water lily is growing on her right lung. Their daily life becomes marshy as they buy expensive remedy flowers in a working world that cares little for anyone's happiness. The production also asks, 'Does anyone want a pianocktail?'
The cast features Yann Aspirot, Agathe Foucault, Zoé Girard, Zoé Lajeunesse-Guy, Maxime-Olivier Potvin and Jérémie St-Cyr, along with the voice of Simon Boudreault. Performances run from 20 October to 7 November 2026 in Salle Fred-Barry at Théâtre Denise-Pelletier, as part of Festival Voix Mortes 2026.
