Led by multidisciplinary artist Laura Samé, this linocut printmaking workshop guides participants through the full process of creating their own relief prints using all materials provided on site.
The session begins with drawing a simple design on tracing paper (or transferring a chosen image), which is then scaled and transferred onto a linocut plate. Participants carve the plate in relief using the supplied gouges, working in reverse to produce a mirrored print.
Once carving is complete, participants prepare their chosen supports — paper, card or fabric — select an ink colour, and roll ink evenly onto the plate before pressing it onto the support using a press. Up to five prints can be pulled per session, all of which participants take home.
Supports are generally A4-format Canson 250g paper, making the finished prints suitable for greeting cards or other special occasions. All equipment is supplied; no prior experience is necessary.
