Mysterium is a rock mass in which the churches of Amagerbro move into Amager Bio for one Thursday evening in October. It combines a rock concert with a church service.
The newly written songs deal with letting go, feeling love, searching for hope and reaching out to one another. Old words and rituals meet new music in a musical story about faith and doubt, hope, community and love.
Ten professional musicians and singers are on stage, with a big sound, groovy drums, wild guitar solos and rich multi-part vocals. The music moves from quiet and intimate to big and explosive, and several of the songs are easy to sing along with.
Mysterium was written by pianist, composer and organist Fredrik Mellqvist, who moves comfortably between the rhythmic music scene and the church space. The idea for the rock mass came about at Roskilde Festival.
