Far, far, krigsmand is a topical satirical play by prize-winning Danish playwright Christian Lollike, set in a lightly fictionalized fairy-tale kingdom in the far north that has long enjoyed peace and comfort but is now suddenly forced to confront the need for military rearmament.
The play asks pressing questions: How do you persuade a population accustomed to soft living to put on a uniform? What does it mean to cultivate a collective national identity in the face of external threat? Who are we when war comes knocking, and what are we willing to sacrifice?
Lollike has won the prestigious Reumert Award for Best Production two years running — for Skolekomedien in 2024 and Jeppe på Bjerget in 2025 at Aarhus Teater — cementing his reputation as one of Denmark's most incisive political dramatists.
The production runs on the Mellemgulvet stage at Skuespilhuset from 10 December 2026 to 3 February 2027.
