FAUST runs at Betty Nansen Teatret in Copenhagen from 26 September to 17 October 2026, with performances Monday through Friday at 19:30 and Saturdays at 16:00.
Based on Goethe's monumental two-part work — including the rarely staged second part — this production is a contemporary social satire about greed, morality and desire. The scientist Faust is lured by the devil Mephisto into surrendering all his values in exchange for everything he has ever dreamed of, holding up a mirror to our own culture of optimization and accumulation.
Nicolaj Kopernikus leads the cast as Faust, with Thomas Hwan as the devilish Mephisto. Further cast members include Emma Weyde, Mille Hoffmeyer Lehfeldt, Marina Bouras, Frederik Grundtvig and Simon Mathew.
The production is directed by Norwegian director Lea Fedida Claussen, known for her raw energy and physical intensity. She adapts the text together with poet and playwright Elias Sadaq, with set design by Maya Livingstone — named Set Designer of the Year 2026 at Norway's Hedda Awards. This marks the creative team's first production on a Danish stage.
