RAPING DENMARK <3 (or: how I rose up and conquered the kingdom)

RAPING DENMARK <3 (or: how I rose up and conquered the kingdom) is a provocative theatrical production directed by Norwegian theatre-maker Even Torgan, created in collaboration with playwright Tarjei Sandvik Moe. The piece examines Danish identity, radicalisation, cultural guilt and political silence.

The story is set at a fictional Danish School of Creative Writing in Copenhagen, where a group of young writers gather with hopes of changing the world through literature. When tensions around racism, free speech, identity and what it means to be Danish fracture the group, the school becomes a site of conflict.

Torgan, known in Norway as an enfant terrible of contemporary theatre, turns his critical lens on Denmark after a series of politically charged performances in his home country. The production invites the audience into the performance itself, directly confronting them with uncomfortable questions about tolerance and who holds the power to define national identity.

Performances run Monday through Friday at 19:30, with Saturday matinees at 16:00. The exception is Saturday 13 February, which has an evening performance at 20:00. The production plays at Edison.
