The Ice Palace is a theatre performance in Copenhagen, staged at Republique. It is a stage adaptation of The Ice Palace by the Norwegian writer Tarjei Vesaas, a dark classic of Scandinavian literature.
The story
The piece follows Siss and Unn, two young girls whose bond is intense and close. Between them they make a solemn, unspoken promise, and that promise draws Unn toward a frozen waterfall and the ice palace of the title. The mood is quiet and serious, so this is a performance for audiences who are happy to sit with a difficult, emotionally weighty story.
