This year-round weekly class, held every Monday evening at Halle Tropisme in Montpellier, is led by dancer-choreographer Siaka Coulibaly. Known as Afronavire, the class is built around energy, joy, and the learning of choreographies that blend traditional Mandingue dance movements with a wide variety of urban dance styles.
Siaka Coulibaly is a Burkinabe dancer and choreographer based in Montpellier. He trained first in Burkina Faso, including the Yeleen Don programme under Salia Sanou and Saïdou Boro at La Termitère in Ouagadougou, followed by intensive workshops in Burkina Faso, at the École des Sables in Senegal, and in Togo and Benin alongside figures such as Germaine Acogny, Alesandra Seutin, Elsa Wolliaston, Irène Tassambédo, and Ladji Koné. In 2022 he joined the professional training programme of Anne-Marie Porras at Epsedanse in Montpellier.
Siaka has been active in artistic and cultural education from the start of his career, teaching children and adults in France and Belgium. He regularly leads dance transmission and awareness sessions through the #JeSuis programme for unaccompanied minors, asylum seekers, and refugees in partnership with Camin Aktion, the production bureau that also supports his professional development and solo works.
