The ITTF Singles World Cup Montpellier 2027 will be held at the Sud de France Arena from Monday, March 29 to Sunday, April 4, 2027. The competition will feature 48 men and 48 women competing for the sport's most prestigious individual trophies: the Evans Cup (men's) and the Hammarlund Cup (women's).
The tournament format begins with a group stage, followed by knockout rounds played in a best-of-seven format. Qualification spots are awarded to continental championship winners, finalists and semi-finalists, with additional places filled via world rankings, and wild-cards available to the host nation.
This edition is historically significant on two counts: it marks the 44th men's ITTF Singles World Cup and the 27th women's edition — but, crucially, the very first time the women's World Cup has ever been staged in France. France previously hosted the men's event in Nîmes (1995, 1996, 1997), Paris (2006, 2011) and Disneyland Paris (2018).
The event also coincides with the centenary year of the French Table Tennis Federation (Fédération Française de Tennis de Table), adding further symbolic weight to the occasion.
Montpellier has been building a strong relationship with elite table tennis since 2024, when the Sud de France Arena began hosting the annual WTT Champions Montpellier event. The 2027 World Cup represents the next step in that partnership, placing the city at the very centre of the global table tennis calendar for one week.
