La lumière haut perchée is a walking show in the Saint-Roch district of Montpellier, in the Occitania region of southern France. It is a street performance rather than a fixed event in one hall: two stilt walkers, dressed in white and light, move through the streets of the neighbourhood.
What to expect
- When: Saturday 14 November, from 19:30 to 21:30
- Where: the streets of Saint-Roch, starting from Place Saint-Roch
- Who it is for: children and adults alike
The atmosphere is intended to be magical. Because the performers are on stilts and lit in white, they stand out against the evening streets, and the show is best enjoyed as a slow stroll alongside them rather than a seated performance. Since it moves through the neighbourhood, you can watch from wherever you happen to be standing along the route.
Around the show
Saint-Roch is a district of Montpellier, so an evening here can easily be combined with time in the wider city. The show is one of the events in the city's "Cœur de ville en lumières" programme, and details of that programme are published on the city's website, where you can check any updates before you go.
If you are planning the evening, arriving a little before 19:30 at Place Saint-Roch will give you a good view of the start of the walk. Bring warm clothing, as November evenings in Montpellier can be cool.
