On Listening is an informal philosophical conversation evening held at Folketeatret in Copenhagen on 23 November. It is one session in the Grublerier series, a set of conversations hosted by the theatre about life's large and small questions. The evening takes place on the Snoreloftet stage, inside the theatre building.
What the evening is about
The session is titled At lytte (To Listen). Its theme is the difference between hearing and listening, and a question worth asking in 2026: is listening a radical act? The conversation is led by philosopher and art historian Lukas Quist Lund, who guides the discussion rather than chairing a debate.
The format
This is not a panel with speakers on one side and an audience on the other. It is an open, shared conversation. Guests may join in with their own thoughts or simply sit and listen, and either choice is welcome. No background in philosophy is needed. The only thing the evening asks of you is an interest in good conversation.
Who it suits
- Visitors who enjoy slow, unhurried talk about ideas
- Those curious about philosophy but without formal training
- Anyone who would like an evening in Copenhagen that is more reflective than a performance
The Grublerier series more broadly draws on themes such as joy, faith, care and community, so this evening may suit those who want to continue a longer thread of thought. Folketeatret's event page carries the details of the series and the session.
