Stick & Bow - Krystina Marcoux & Juan Sebastian Delgado

The duo Stick&Bow brings together marimba and cello in a programme that reframes Bach not as a historical artifact but as a living musical force whose influence can be heard across centuries of composition.

The concert pairs Bach's original works with pieces he inspired: a minuet in E minor is placed alongside a Beatles melody, a chorale opens into Radiohead, and a fugue finds its counterpart in a composition by Sting. These are treated as genuine musical encounters rather than arrangements or borrowings.

The marimba's warm, percussive tone draws unexpected colours out of Bach's counterpoint, while the cello uncovers the emotional depth beneath the music's structural precision. Together the two voices aim to present Bach's inventiveness and urgency as immediately relevant today.

The performance takes place at Off-Festival Bach, 3487 Boul. Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC H2X 2T6, on December 2, 2026 at 4:00 pm, as part of Festival Bach.
