The Source of Imagination

An immersive evening light and sound installation, built around a forgotten spring and a crystal-toned piano, which unfolds from the facade to the courtyard of Hôtel Saint-Côme in Montpellier. It runs on 12, 13 and 14 November 2026.

The Source of Imagination is an evening light and sound installation in Montpellier, in the Occitanie region of southern France. It unfolds across the facade and courtyard of Hôtel Saint-Côme, turning the historic building into a setting for an immersive performance of light and music.

What you will see and hear

The installation is built around a forgotten spring and a piano whose notes are described as crystal-like. Together they form an immersive symphony that moves from the building's facade into its courtyard, so the visit feels less like looking at a single display and more like walking through a sequence of scenes. The visuals are created by SG Scénographies.

  • Where: Hôtel Saint-Côme, Montpellier
  • When: 12, 13 and 14 November 2026, from 18:30 to 22:30
  • Format: an evening light and sound installation

Planning your visit

Because the installation runs in the evening and across three nights, it suits a November stroll through the city centre. The courtyard and facade are the two main parts of the experience, so allow time to move between them and to take in both the lights and the music.

Further details about the programme are published by the City of Montpellier under its "Cœur de ville en lumières" campaign, at montpellier.fr.
