TIDSÅNDERNES HUS – Madame Nielsen is a live theatre event at Edison in Copenhagen, Denmark, running from 14 January to 18 April 2027. It is a staging of the controversial novel TIDSÅNDERNES HUS by writer and performer Madame Nielsen, who plays herself in the leading role.
What the evening is
The story follows a Danish artist who is expelled from her own hit production at a foreign theatre. Rather than presenting the novel once, the production reshapes it across three rapid-fire stagings. Each version is described as more radical and unpredictable than the last, and the drama gradually turns into a many-voiced show trial.
The piece is presented as a tragedy about people determined to do the right thing at any cost. It is a theatre evening built on language, argument and performance rather than a conventional play with a fixed plot, so visitors may find it most rewarding if they are curious about how a novel can be questioned and retold on stage.
The cast
Some of Denmark's most accomplished actors take on the roles of accusers, judges, victims and offenders. Because the staging changes from one version to the next, the performance is shaped as much by the company as by the text.
