Welcome to the Digital Desert

Welcome to the Digital Desert is an absurdist theatrical work created by b-boy Charles Gao, blending breaking, theatre, poetry, and movement. The piece follows Bobbi Billions, an ordinary person seeking modest pleasures — a little cash, some streaming, relief from anxiety — only to find themselves entangled with a mysterious inner voice and the shadowy figure of cyberterrorist Zhuangzi.

Beneath the comic and surreal surface, the work channels a sincere desire for social transformation. It confronts consumer culture, systemic collapse, and the longing for something more authentic — embodied in the recurring motif of a lost lasagna recipe passed down through generations.

The production is co-presented by La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines and Festival Accès Asie. Performances take place nightly at 19:30 from Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 7, 2027.

Tickets are available through the La Chapelle Tuxedo Billet platform. The venue is located at 3700 rue Saint-Dominique, Montreal (Quebec) H2X 2X7.
